I strive to be an evangelist for Unitus, a non-profit targeting poverty alleviation through microfinance. I was one of the co-founders of Unitus and I currently serve on their board (Come on - help alleviate poverty - Donate here!).
I also have the opportunity to serve on the Foundation Board at UVSC, on the board to Center for Economic Self Reliance at BYU, serve as chair of the Lakeridge Junior High School Community Council, as well as a leader of our church congregation's young men and scouting group (On my honor, I will do my best...).
I have an MBA from the Marriott School of Management and a Masters of International Studies in Third World Economic Development from the Kennedy Center. My undergraduate degree was in Civil Engineering. All the degrees came from Brigham Young University. Go Cougars!
In 1992, I founded Marketing Ally, an inbound and outbound call center. It grew to 3 centers with over 1200 employees. Marketing Ally was one of the Top 50 largest call centers in the US. I sold it in 2003. Phew - that was a lot of work.
In 1994, I started NorthSky, Inc., which developed the FreeServers.com free website hosting property. In 1999, under the great leadership of Hal Halladay as CEO, and with a brilliant team, FreeServers.com became one of the top 50 Media Metrix properties for traffic and was purchased by About.com, propelling About.com into the top 10 internet properties at the time. We had a riot riding that wave.
In 2000, I started Bizcradle, a small business incubator, working with Hal Halladay and a few other partners. We started SenForce (wireless security), HumanLink (online social networking), and MeuGrupo - Brazil (yahoogroups-clone exported to Brazil). The last two companies died after the dot com crash. Ouch! - it is still painful.
I am part of the v100 Utah Entrepreneurs for 2004 and 2005. I have received a Distinguished Alumni Award from BYU.
In 2004, I co-founded Tornado Solutions, an online niche-content publisher. I love digital assets. Miniscule incremental costs to scale - my kind of business.
I am one of the founders of Know More Media. Currently, I am serving as the Chief Innovation Officer for Know More Media. That means I get to come up with the crazy ideas and someone else has to make them reality! Cool eh?
I love to water and snow ski, hike, garden, and do genealogy. I am an amateur history buff. I like writing and I like reading even more. I've got a large family (hey, I'm a Mormon!) and I am very happily married to my wife (yes, only one wife!).
