This week, on the Know More Media network, we know more about a great book about setting goals and a New Year's Resolution to develop a corporate blogging policy to share with those Fortune 500 companies that aren't yet blogging. James at BizImpressario, tells us that entrepreneurs often procrastinate, but then shows us how to get things done. Hal tells us about the importance of setting objectives for the New Year. Hal also comes up with a list of the worst leaders of 2005. Do you agree?
Our authors must have watched some TV over the holidays as we saw several mentions about the changing face of TV Advertising. One came from ITechTips where Colbert argues that the effectiveness of TV Advertising is being killed, while over at MarketingBlurb, Rich tells us that the rules are changing for TV ad buys, and at Adhurl, George wonders why if TV ad spending is going down, why are TV ad rates going up? He proclaims that the "end of TV ain't far away".
We also had insights about some of the big events on TV this last week, including the best Rose Bowl game ever and the Letterman-O'Reilly brawl on Late Night. The Super Bowl is starting to show up on the radar screen, with George calling it "The Yawn of the Year" and Rich covering (or is it uncovering?) Paris Hilton, Janet Jackson, and the marketing tactics of GoDaddy to create controversy with their Super Bowl ads.
Events at the big CES show in Vegas were also a hot topic. The Google PC rumor was discussed and then put to bed. Rich wondered why Microsoft's newest operating system Vista was not getting more promotion from marketing evangelists ( I commented that I think this release will bring RSS to the masses). And Colbert followed with more Microsoft news about the Microsoft Live products.
Some companies seem to be struggling with some aspects of globalism as evidenced by Matt at TranslationMaven with his evaluation of the quality of translation in Spanish of several major corporations websites (Chevrolet, Quixtar - two thumbs down, Hallmark - one thumb up). ExPatFacts explored if Bolivia was turning leftist after their recent election as well as stating that it is business as usual for expats in the Middle East, even with all the recent turmoil.
GrowYourFunds laid out the basics of Structured Settlements and Annuities. Larry also helps us understand the intricacies of a Viatical Settlement and why it might be a realistic option for senior citizens.
We have to let you know we also got some love from some of our commenters. One said: "Shawn Halladay is "NO GIRLY MAN" when it comes to his knowledge of Equipment Leasing," and called him an ACTION HERO as Shawn defended the Governator's investment in a sale-leaseback of a 747 with Singapore Airlines back in 1997 and, "horror of horrors, deferred some taxes by doing so." Shawn responded that he is here to PUMP YOU UP about all aspects of leasing as well as explaining (so even I could understand) the basics of tax-exempt leasing.
Finally, we want to share some good news. We noticed today that we hit our 600th blog post. We know that isn't much to some of the big networks out there, but we feel the momentum!
