We also covered some controversy this week:

We saw the skies be not quite so friendly this week as controversy at United over bonuses begins.  American Airlines became (Un)American as they denied Military Leave benefits for National Guard pilots.

Of course, we have already talked about Pamela wanting to remove a bust (the jokes are too tempting here).

The US was not the only source of controversy as Young's Brewery in London removed ads that showed a man with a ram's head (the symbol of the brewery) by a swimming pool, surrounded by women in bikinis, seen as linking drinking of alcohol with social and sexual success.

Another ad also drew controversy in Ireland as a poster for a gambling company drew widespread complaints for showing a pastiche of 'The Last Supper' with chips and the Apostles playing cards or roulette!

Feeling the Heat

Several authors turned up the heat this cold winter week:

Matt at ExPatFacts asked if Harry Belafonte knows what he's talking about?  When is a celebrity also an expert on political affairs?

George at AdHurl  ridicules Hilton's new ad campaign -  "it’s guaranteed to be full of all the usual visual clichés backed up by the usual inane copy" and also ridicules agency people - saying that the stuff they write  "is convoluted, meaningless drivel" and these out-of-touch people "are... tasked with selling detergent to single mothers living on welfare in trailer parks."
