Sure there are 30+ million blogs and the number is growing daily. Sure many of these blogs have few if no readers. And sure with so many people producing content it is no surprise that on occasion, the facts get misstated.
On the other hand, consider this:
A photographer fulfills an assignment at a newsworthy event. Not only does he chronicle the event but is fortunate enough to also notice a human interest story that may be as compelling as the assigned story. However, in the traditional media, the back story is rarely told, only the assigned story is published based on the editorial assignments and the fact that a newspaper cannot afford to publish every story.
However, with access to a blog, the photographer chronicles the story with a photo and description. Is he a professional writer? No. Is his blog official? No. Does his story resonate? Yes. It gets noticed and is retold on another blog. Readers of that blog pass it on. Other blogs link to it. A story that previously would be untold now becomes news.

The game is on. Some get it. Some can't face it.
