It All Depends on Where You Sit
Mistakes happen all the time in media and the press.  I am not sure how often we find out about them but I am sure they happen. Thanks to powerful (and fun) Web 2.0 tools like Youtube, some of these media gems are uncovered. guy.headphones.jpg

If you didn’t hear about the case of mistaken identity at the BBC, stick with me. The BBC was doing a story on online music (Apple I-tunes versus the Beatles Apple label). The plan called for the BBC to interview Newswireless.net editor Guy Kewney. Imagine Guy’s surprise when he was introduced but the cameraman panned over to

mistaken interview.jpg“Guy Goma, a Business Studies graduate, from the Congo…[who was] in reception because he was applying for a high level IT job with the BBC.”

And imagine Guy Goma's surprise when the camera light came on and he was introduced as Guy Kewney, internet expert.  Actually, you don't have to imagine.

You have to see it to believe it.

I guess everyone will get their 15 minutes of fame.

Thanks to Media Orchard for the tip.

I thought Guy Goma did a brilliant job of that interview!
Pete >> It is hard to fault the "guy." He took the assignment seriously and did his best.
Ah man, they took it off of YouTube: BBC says it was posted without copyright. Bummer.
