Technology will play a critical role in the World Cup 2006.
ESPN will steam 52 of the 64 games live and free to U.S. computers on
ESPN360.com between now and July 9. Unfortunately, two of the major broadband carriers,
Cox and
Comcast are not broadband partners. The 12 games that won't stream online will be broadcast live on
ABC. In the UK, all 64 games will be streamed live and free on the
BBC's Web Site.
If you are on of the unlucky ones that cannot stream the US – Czech Republic game through ESPN360.com, then you may want to follow it through a blog play-byplay at the New York Times Blog
IT professionals in Europe are concerned about server load during key matches. U.S. IT folks not so much. Both continents expect productivity losses as reported by ABC News.
