CNN Wants You(Tube)

CNN announced today that it will allow consumers to play a more prominent role in their news gathering process.

The company announced a new program to

“let users send in digital audio and video from breaking news events in their region. Users can e-mail or upload these so-called "I-Reports" directly from CNN's site.”

Of course, editors will be involved which immediately brings the idea of true citizen journalism under scrutiny.   I guess it is another attempt for mainstream media to catch up. Some call it a cheap copy of youtubeMTV got in on that last week.

CNN is a division of Time Warner Inc. (TWX)
