Bob Dylan wrote this anthem in 1964 as a challenge to the political and social status quo. I am not sure that it didn’t also have to do with the wave of music that was forming and how it left youth feeling empowered.
Fast forward to 2006. There is a new wave of opportunity to feel empowered as tools like myspace and youtube enable anyone with a computer to garner an audience, influence masses and cater to niches. New media and citizen journalism is the new road. Old media is rapidly aging, please get out of the way if you can't lend a hand.
The Wall Street Journal has identified its Moguls of New Media. Steve Rubel from Micropersuasion writes,
I guess Andy Warhol’s 15 minutes of fame is more real than ever. Maybe the corollary should be 15 minutes of fame or 15 million views.
