Know More this week about the latest Airport Security Rules:
TheAirlineHub, AListReview and RoadGladiator did a great job of covering the breaking story and provided timely updates to the security changes.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said it was taking an unprecedented step by raising the threat level for commercial flights originating in the United Kingdom to "severe," or red.
TheAirlineHub warns that a successful terrorist attack could be catastrophic for the financial health of US airlines:
The US airline industry is still suffering their hardest few years, some still have yet to recover. It has been over 5 years since United Airlines made a profit and last quarter was the first profit for them. American Airlines was so close to filling for bankruptcy it was scary for everyone at the airline. Delta Air Lines and Northwest have yet to even come close to exiting their reorganization. Continental is in the the best shape of all the international carriers based in the US, is only slightly better than all the other carriers. The airline industry is very fragile. It will be interesting to see how the terrorist plot will affect travels abroad.
The RoadGladiator provides lots of useful tips of how to deal with the latest restrictions.
Of particular interest is how to deal with the possibility that you will need to check your laptop and how to deal with no hair gel or lotion.
A few hotels have taken steps to make it easier for travelers. Solutions offered by hotels include: offering gift checks to local drugstores, carry-ons sent home by FedEx courtesy of the hotel, providing complimentary cosmetics and/or toiletries and room credits equivalent to the cost of buying a new set of toiletries.
