Chartreuse Announces NewOrleansNow.org, Citizen Investigator Squad
Devastation.jpgIn an attempt to use new media tools like blogging, podcasting and Web video publishing to tell the world whether human rights abuses are taking place in southeastern U.S. areas recovering from August 2005's Hurricane Katrina, Chartreuse (Prince Campbell) yesterday announced his "Team New Orleans."

Chartreuse will send three citizen journalists on the truth-gathering mission: Mishikea Brathwaite, from Los Angeles; Travis Campbell, a New Orleans native, from San Francisco; and Loren Feldman, from New York City.  Candice Quates (blog), who lives in New Orleans, will also help Chartreuse's envoys as they interview people within a 150-mile-wide area starting on Friday, August 11.

The mission's progress will be covered at NewOrleansNow.org.  Please blog about this.  Tell everyone you know - maybe together we can improve this sad situation.

Follow The Blog Herald, The Blogging Times and Know More Media as we watch Chartreuse and his team try to unravel the truth and publish it to the world.  As you do, please compare apologetic mainstream media reports of the National Guard forcing people from their homes in New Orleans to small-scale productions like The Drive (a ground-level look at the continuing state of devastation in some Katrina-affected areas).  This new effort will shed light on which version is more accurate.

Wow! I thought Jason Boog was going from NYC. I was in New Orleans in late June 2005 for a conference (Webmasterworld) and took the 3 hour tour of the city the day I arrived. I wonder how much of that tour area I saw looks the same? I bet not that much - it must still be a mess down there and hot and humid - I could never live there. The funny thing, for me, while visiting NO, was the sense, perhaps my sixth sense, that disaster was coming. Everyone talked about the "Big One" that NO narrowly missed several times. I hope what Charturuse is doing does highlight what is the true state of New Orleans and surrounding area today - as we all have a tendency to forget - and this was less than a year ago - so it's almost yesterday - yet in our time frame, a year a lot of time. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of this trip.
“When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts,” to be shown on HBO this month is the full documentary of New Orleans where we should see the full facts as presented by Spike Lee in a 4 hour documentary. No one should forget about Katrina because the effects are still there.
There will be a good project for the citizens of New Orleans.Pitt was compelled by the devastation and ruin he witnessed in the Lower 9th Ward, one of the hardest hit neighborhoods. Make It Right is going to build 150 homes in the Lower 9th Ward. Pitt is projecting that families will be in their new homes by the end of summer 2009. By the end of summer 2009, families will have been waiting nearly four years to re-establish themselves in New Orleans. It’s about time that someone took initiative to help the families in New Orleans. Like I said, it’s sad that it takes star power to get people involved, but I’m glad Brad Pitt was inspired to help. I feel like he will really get the ball rolling. Better late than never, I suppose. I cannot imagine waiting three or four years for emergency aid. At least I know when I face financial emergencies I can get almost immediate help. Payday Loans are available to me at my convenience. I won’t have to worry about waiting one day, let alone three years to get the help I need from payday loans. Click to read more on Payday Loans.
Hurricane Katrina had many devastating effects to the people. We cannot deny the fact that it affects the people and give us another burden in our life. The fact that the emergencies like this strikes us when we are in a least position to handle this kind of situation. This is an uninvited guest that comes in our life. We cannot predict when and where it will occur. And sometimes it give us a new burden I our life. In times of emergency it’s unacceptable to wait for the things you need, like money; that’s why payday loans are such a great resource. You can get money right when you need it, and you don’t have to deal with any added stress when you’re already stressed out from whatever emergency just turned your world upside down. The people of New Orleans, the victims of Hurricane Katrina, on the other hand, have been waiting for years for the things they need—like new homes! It’s sad that it takes a celebrity like Brad Pitt to motivate people to help their fellow Americans, but at least Pitt is making a difference. Pitt is the spokesperson and lead of the Make It Right Project. Make It Right is an effort to rebuild homes in New Orleans.
