As mentioned in a previous post, I have been following the controversy surrounding bargain retail giant Wal-Mart for a while. Apparently, Wal-Mart is making some changes and as Mark commented, love ‘em or hate ‘em, Wal-Mart makes a move and it effects the entire economy. If you don’t believe it, check out this article in the latest issue of Fast Company.
If you have not been keeping up never fear, Know More Media authors have been keeping us current on the newest developments with reference to this retail mogul. So much has happened recently, from the approval of Wal-Mart Unions in China, to changing with the times to Wal-Mart segmenting their market in order to better serve customers.
Speaking of companies that are growing to mammoth proportions, Google has added more features to its repertoire of services. AdHurl announced the new news archives Wednesday, and expressed being very impressed. The same day WebMetricsGuru announced Google’s addition of mobile advertising to their AdWords services and today PowerSellerKing wrote a post about the world being primed for Google Auctions due to the new Ebay controversy. Talk about innovating business. I wonder if Google will end up having the same affect on the internet and advertising as Wal-Mart does on the economy as a whole. Time will tell.
A strange and fascinating discussion is evolving about a website design company called Justtwogirls.com (JTG). When this issue first came up, I read about the alleged business practices of Christina Stevens in utter disbelief. Of course our Know More Media
customer service maven at CustomersAreAlways attempted to get to the bottom of this service nightmare only to be rebuffed. All was not lost however because former customers of JTG came forward with their stories. Now both the authors of CustomersAreAlways and ItsBadBusiness beg the question what can be done, and ex-clients warn others in their comments that JTG is just too weird.
On a more positive note…ThePublishingSpot has really caught my eye and inspired me recently. This witty and edgy blog by Jason Boog is a great resource for any one looking to break into any aspect of publishing. I especially enjoyed the post about the best wartime journalists as well as the one challenging writers to tell the story with great headlines.
