Start Using A Feedreader if You Haven't Already
I'm a news glutton.  I have to be.  For my job as network editor, I have to know what's going on in the world of business in order to help Know More Media authors write about business news.  But reading the news takes time, and looking for news sources takes even more time.  So I've often wondered, "How can I get more news faster?"

The most time-saving news-gathering tool or method that I've discovered in the past year has been feedreading.  Using an online feedreader called NewsGator, I can suscribe to dozens of Web feeds that pull information from a variety of sources as those sources are updated.  The result is much like a personalized newspaper that gives me breaking news only on the subjects I'm interested in.

Thanks to news feeds I've subscribed to or created, I now know almost instantly whenever someone mentions my name on the Web, or when someone talks about Know More Media.  I get instant updates on my favorite news topics.  I can even know when a product I'm looking for is listed on eBay or when that latest tropical storm becomes a hurricane.  NewsGator makes all that and more as easy as pie.  All I have to do is add feeds and then sign in regularly to see my personalized news.

There are many good feedreaders like NewsGator - Bloglines, Rojo and My Yahoo! come immediately to mind.  I invite you to start using a feedreader if you haven't already.  It can save you an incredible amount of time and open a whole new world of news and information to you.  And that can help you become a smarter person and a better contributor to your company, to humanity and to the world.

Nice one, Easton. I don't know where I'd be without my NewsGator reader. Just as much as you can over do it with too much information overload, by managing what you read (and being ruthless about it) it has been a great time-saver for me, cutting down hours of research time. You know what you need to do Easton? You need to create a simple sceencast showing the basics of NewsGator for those not sure, or thinking about, using rss.
Have you been reading my thoughts again, Martin? I've actually been planning to do just that. Thanks for the encouragement / reminder!
heh, just started using rojo like an hour ago and saw this post somewhere in rojo.
Easton - Good stuff. You do a screencast and I'll promote it at ePubDaily. I think we need to start breaking away from the 2% of people who use rss readers and start educating the normal reader. A short and simple rss screencast tutorial could go a long way ... as well as viral. :-)
