As I mentioned in a post yesterday, I was fortunate to join a few fellow employees in Long Beach at an advanced screening of the Paramount and MTV Films movie Freedom Writers. The movie was true to the inspiring Freedom Writers project led by Erin Gruwell that changed the lives of at-risk high school students at Wilson High in Long Beach in 1994-1998. Kimberlee Morrison, one of our editors honed her writing skills as a Freedom Writer and is depicted as a character in the film. Check her story in three parts so far - Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.
Below are pictures I took at the screening. It was inspirational. The enthusiasm and love the Freedom Writers have for their project and their teacher, Ms. Gruwell is infectious and stirring.
