This week there was quite a bit of news about new media, from fashion bloggers being offered an all expense paid pass to cover fashion week to politicians launching blog campaigns. This could change the face of political elections much like television did during the Kennedy/Nixon run. According to ElephantBiz author Bill Hobbs, new media is even the new battle ground, with politicians using podcasts to respond to attacks made via YouTube.
Internet neutrality has quickly become a hot topic for 2007, with AT&T being forced by the FCC to treat all content neutrally to gain approval of teh the BellSouth Corp. purchase, and politicians introducing neutrality legislation early into 2007. When Quest Communications CEO Dick Notebaert claimed that this action turned a tradition on its head, AdHurl author George Parker refused to buy what he was selling. Attudes similar to that of Notebaert are likely the reason many media companies will continue to experience disruptions well into 2007.
