Big news this week, YouTube’s (GOOG) continued growing pains and Jet Blue Airways’ (JBLU) response in the aftermath of customer stranding. While there is a silver lining at the end of the proverbial tunnel for the discount airline, the fate of YouTube still hangs in the balance.Whether the social video sharing site survives this trying time or not, a new distribution model has been forged as a result of its existence. Check out what other Know More Media authors had to say about these hot news topics.
After a week of debacles, Jet Blue responded with a proposal for a new passenger bill of rights, but there is question as to whether it will work. In a move of public relations genius, CEO David G. Neeleman issued a public apology on YouTube,
expressing his own personal dissatisfaction with the breakdown in the airline operations. The bloggosphere was buzzing this week about this whole ordeal, and Know More Media CEO Hal Haladay took time to analyzed how the airline used social media to boost its online density when dealing with this recent customer service issue.
Some mass media companies are not-so understanding of YouTube’s refusal inability to expedite copyright protection software on the user-generated video streaming site. Viacom followed their request for some 100,000 copyrighted materials to be removed from YouTube, with a distribution deal with new-video-streaming-site-on-the-block, Joost. Looks like spite to me but as TheAlphaMarketer recently pointed out, this is a hot battle for online media video distribution.
