Breaking News:
This news and all following pictures are from KSL News:
(KSL News) There's just been a shooting at the Trolley Square mall.
Multiple gun shots have been fired inside the mall and outside in the parking garage.
Salt Lake police are at the scene.
Several witnesses heard multiple gunshots.
At least five people are down in various areas of the mall, including the Hard Rock Café, Pottery Barn Kids and the west garage.
Police believe that the first shooter is dead but that there is still another shooter on the second floor of the mall.
The mall has been evacuated, but there are still pockets of people who are still inside who are afraid to come out because there might be a second shooter on the second floor of the mall.
We have a crew there and we'll have more details as soon as they become available.
Things are still quite confusing and it is hard to get accurate news and information. It is quite chilling to read some of the comments that have shown up within minutes of the initial shooting on the KSL article:
My friend is trapped in the backroom of pottery barn kids and she says people were being gunned down in the entry way. and in the parking lot. they hurried to the back and are safe at this point. Not sure of casulaties, but definately wounded.
Here is another:
we're trapped in the backroom of pottery barn kids and we witnessed people being gunned down in the second floor and in the entry way. police are aware we're here. and we just want everyone to know we're okay.

Here is one who saw one of the initial shooting:
We were in the desert edge brewery and a guy sitting by the window saw someone cock a gun and then fire shots before entering the building. Everyone started running out and we are now safe at home. my friends were trapped inside hiding in a closet for about 25 minutes before he was able to run out.
Very scary. Still breathing hard.
Who does this?!?!
Here is one from a very concerned mom:
my daughter is working in the hard rock cafe. she says they're on the floor in a back room an they're ok. please pray for everyone affected by this. Heavenly Father listens.
Alright we know it a bad situation but Deal or No Deal is on darn it. I wanna see what case the guy picks and not the same footage from of the mall. Boring!

KSL / AP are reporting 5 confirmed deaths:
A man wearing a trench coat and toting a shotgun walked into a crowded Trolley Square tonight in Salt Lake City and opened fire. He killed five people before he was shot and killed.
"I was working and all of a sudden I heard a shot and I saw security run by. I didn't really know what was going on. People just started running," a witness named Maya said.
An antique-store owner, Barrett Dodds, 29, said he saw a man in a trench coat exchanging gunfire with a police officer outside a card store. The gunman was backed into a children's clothing store.
"I saw the cops go in the store. I saw the shooter go down," said Dodds, who watched from the second floor.
Five shoppers were killed. Others were wounded. Hundreds more ran into the streets before the gunman was shot and killed.
At least four people were hospitalized. Two men in critical condition -- one 50 and another 16 -- were at University Hospital, spokesman Chris Nelson said. Another two people -- one in critical and one in serious -- were at LDS Hospital, said spokesman Jess Gomez.
