More great news regarding our team of Know More Media authors. Marshall Sponder, our author for WebMetricsGuru.com, has been elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Web Analytics Association (WAA). According to the WAA, “WebMetricsGuru is one of the most influential and viewed blogs on Web Metrics.” All the credit goes to Marshall, who was the inspiration behind WebMetricsGuru, as well as its sole author & launching author 15 months ago.

This is the first year for Marshall to be on the Board of the WAA. There are nine members of the WAA’s Board of Directors, which are voted upon every year. The Web Analytics Association is based in Washington DC, and exists to help shape the future & promote the cause of Web Analytics. As they define it, “Web Analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of Internet data for the purposes of understanding and optimizing Web usage.”

As outlined on the WAA website, the specific goals of the WAA are to:

• Help standardize the terms, definitions, and best practices used by our entire industry.
• Influence legislation that affects you and the web analytics industry as a whole.
• Develop and implement training and certification programs thereby strengthening the professionalism of our entire trade.
• Unite web analytic professionals, consultants, and end-users to discuss, combine forces and powerfully promote our common interests worldwide.

These will be Marshall’s new duties as he officially assumes his role on the WAA Board of Directors on May 10, 2007. We are thrilled for Marshall and this recognition of his well-deserved position and success as a web analytics expert. Congratulations, Marshall!
