Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced a new iPod Touch music player, an iPod Nano with video playback capabilities, and a revamped iPod Classic at the today, along with several other product enhancement announcements. Tech blogs Engadget and Ars Technica provided excellent live coverage. Check the Apple store (currently being updated) for these products soon.
While not perfect (as some Apple fanbois proclaim), Apple is a remarkable tech company. The same goes for its marketing methods. Apple product announcements often come in chunks at early adopter conferences or Apple "special events" like the one today. Jobs' flair for the dramatic and slick slide presentations help boost the buzz even further.
Perhaps the biggest reason for Apple's marketing success is its reputation for secrecy, which kindles curiosity in all but the most technophobic types.
Personally, I find the new iPods incredibly sweet-looking, but somewhat too expensive for my tastes. Then again, I grew up taping songs off of the radio and eschewing the purchase of anything I could somehow (legally) obtain for free.
What do you think - will the new iPod Touch, with its sleek iPhone-like visage and WiFi reach, shake up the music industry like the original iPod did? Will consumers love the new video iPod Nano? I'm thinking the answers to both are yes. Leave your thoughts below!
