A Chrysler strike began this morning.
For the second time in three weeks, a major U.S. auto manufacturer is being hit by a worker strike. This time, more than 31,000 United Auto Workers (UAW) members who work as Chrysler employees are launching a strike. The Chrysler employee strike centers around healthcare and job issues. Chrysler makes Dodge, Jeep and other well-known cars.

How Will The Chrysler Auto Strike End?
If things go well for Chrysler, negotiations with UAW will conclude quickly and the strike will end soon, just as the GM strike of a few weeks ago.
I think Chrysler's PR team should use the Web and social media outlets like YouTube to tell the world what the company is going through. This is a new age of transparency and Chrysler would benefit by getting on the good side of bloggers who look for corporate honesty and sincerity in communication.
On the other hand, PR moves can easily backfire online - especially when outed as forced maneuvers to manipulate buzz or influence public opinion. It will be interesting to see how new media tools may influence the strike's outcome and/or public perception of it.
