
Certainly, many of those writing about Hanukkah today will wonder about the spelling of the word. So as a guide to you, I offer this useful but gleeful post from 2005 written on the blog Unbecoming Levity about “How to Spell Hanukkah.” Given my compulsive need for data, this really scratched the itch.
Below is a graphical sample from the post that shows the results from searching for the 16 variants of Hanukkah in 900 on-line dictionaries. Since I can’t beat the majority, I will join them and use the most popular spelling HANUKKAH.
