This week there were several of stories competing for buzz including the beginning of Hanukkah, yet another toy safety watchdog website, and Facebook’s Beacon. Let’s check out what the authors had to say about these hot news items.
It seems like every time Facebook does something new to connect its users to
their friends, they push the boundaries of privacy further and further. Most recently the social networking site started a program called Beacon which has much of the Facebook community up in arms. AdHurl thinks Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg let greed get the best of him which is backed up by WebMetricGuru’s post about how Beacon has inflated Facebook’s traffic. At least Zuckerburg seems smart enough to respond to user concerns and might changed his mind about its use. In the meantime, there is a way to opt out of the program.
With so many toys being recalled this year, there are all sorts of organizations popping up to help consumers make sure they purchase safe toys. One such organization is HealthyToys.org which according to WorkFromHomeMomma is a great resource to ensure the safety of toys bought as gifts for the holidays; PanAsianBiz hopes that the site will help keep us from receiving anymore toxic toys from China and SmallBizMentor addressed some the issue of who is responsible when outsourcing goes wrong.
Dusk on Tuesday marked the beginning of Hanukkah’s eight crazy nights. At BrandingPost, author Stan DeVaugn discussed the way things were versus how they are now. WorkFromHomeMomma examined how Hanukkah could affect businesses; and HelpDeskNotes found some funny videos.
