It took nearly a year, but Google has finally completed its acquisition of DoubleClick.
So what, you ask?
Here's how the Goobleclick deal could change the online advertising industry:
1. Google could offer more graphical advertising. A lot more. And thus diversify its primary source of revenue (Web advertising).
2. Google could suffocate AOL, Yahoo and other Web companies that focus mainly on display ads. Those companies used to have an advantage over the big G because it focused on text-only ads (AdWords / AdSense).
3. Google could morph into Big Brother. After all, they already have monstrous piles of data on people's search, email, browsing, video and RSS habits. Now they've got a huge amount of information about Web users' responses to banner ads and other display ads.
How do you think Google's purchase of DoubleClick will affect the world of online advertising?
