National holidays are big retail days in the
Supermarkets… July 4th spawns countless picnics and barbeques, which means families stocking up on meat, cheese, buns, paper products, deserts, and more, making supermarkets (and superstores like Wal-Mart) very busy.
Gas stations… despite the high price of gas and the consequent decrease of travel this year, a huge number of people will still be traveling for July 4 weekend.
Retail stores… the smart retail stores hold mid-year Independence Day sales, thus enticing more business.
Fireworks… whether it’s legal in your state or not, tons of fireworks will be sold and ignited, both at sanctioned fireworks shows and in your neighbor’s yard.
Restaurants… who wants to cook and do the dishes on a holiday weekend?
Security, police… many law enforcement officers and security providers will be working overtime on the 4th of July weekend to provide protection and order at the parades and in the streets.
What other businesses can you think of that will stand to gain from the busy July 4th weekend?
