Wahoo’s Fish Taco is celebrating the opening of two new stores – on in Temecula and one in Long Beach, CA. I have just returned from filling up on Wahoo’s delicious food and signing books. Why was I signing books at a restaurant opening you might be wondering? Wahoo’s has been a long time sponsor of the Freedom Writers Foundation and all of the proceeds from the opening of the Long Beach store will be donated in support of the foundation’s programs. So of course the foundation was there representing with the many Freedom Writers products and Erin Gruwell, myself and several other Freedom Writers were there signing books. It was a blast!

In case you have never heard of Wahoo’s Fish Taco, you should visit the website and check out the story of three brothers who combined the love of surf and food to create a restaurant that serves a fusion of Mexican, Brazilian, and Asian food. It was no accident that these brothers started their successful restaurant; they spent most of their childhood helping out in their parent’s restaurant, so the love of food was in their blood. The first Wahoo’s location was opened in 1988 in Costa Mesa and was decorated with donations from local surf shops. Today there are Wahoo’s locations all over Southern California, in Colorado and there are talks of branching out into San Jose and Las Vegas.
