Know More Media: Blog Business Summit wrap up
With the Blog Business Summit wrapping up today, I thought it fitting to highlight the coverage from Know More Media and Diane Ensey of the AListReview.mass media soapbox.jpg

In fun Know More Media fashion,  co-founder and CIO Tim Stay arrived at the conference with PEZ for all. The CEO of Know More Media, Hal Halladay, explained the symbolism of the chalk candy with it's dispenser and their relevance to new media.

One of the first and probably one of the most important issues addressed at the summit was the necessity for transparency in business blogging. This is definitely a hot topic in light of the recent exposure of the Wal-Mart Across America mess. A theme I've noticed in blogging is that many blogs are unabashedly honest; whether it be a personal or journalistic. When it comes to public relations (PR) blogging, hopefully companies have learned that if they are not transparent, they will be crucified by bloggers and may have a very difficult time regaining credibility as a result.

The focus on transparency might have detracted from some other presentations on corporate blogging. Some people attending the summit felt like the strategies for creating and maintaining corporate blogs was lacking. Certainly the session on corporate blogging policy was a step in the right direction, though maybe not far enough. Bloggosphere A-Lister Robert Scoble did however presented a list of ways to create a "killer" blog, so if all else fails, those left wanting more should take this advice.

Also discussed at the summit is how new media does not just affect the media, but how everyone is doing business. According to Ben Edwards from IBM, now the identity of companies are determined by customers and corporations are no longer in control of the brand.
