Who are we?
Know More Media is a skilled team of people that have come together to make business information more accessible by bringing business writers and readers together through our business trade blogs. We believe in participatory journalism. We believe there are many talented business writers out there that have important and relevant business knowledge, expertise, and perspective to share.

We find new authors all the time, and they are adding to the value we offer our readers every day. You can access their expertise daily on the Know More Media Network. They are an impressive and gifted crowd.

Know More Media was founded by Tim Stay and me, Hal Halladay.  We started Know More Media because we saw the tremendous need and opportunity to connect experts in business disciplines with business professionals. The flexibility and scalability of blogs is powerful and fits our vision. This is not our first - nor likely our last - adventure in building a rapidly growing business.

Independents Unite!

I read an interesting conversation on Gary Goldhammer’s blog, Below the Fold. Gary writes on “New journalism, modern public relations and shifts in media practices.”

In a post entitled “Unbundled Journalists: Every Reporter is a Freelancer – and a Brand,” Gary suggested that new media empowers journalists to create their own brand, and thereby

“break the surly bonds of their media masters…In this new model, reporters, not newspapers or networks, are the brands.”

True. I think immediately of Jeff Jarvis, Michelle Malkin, David Sifrey, Guy Kawasaki.  I could probably name a few more but what about all us other citizen journalists?  You know, the other 35 million?

Gary received a comment from John Cass that shed some light on this topic,

“I think that while media institutions are successful when they give more freedom to journalists, it’s the combination of talented individuals and a company that provides a structure that supports a journalist is really the winning combination.”

I think Cass has it right and Gary acknowledged the contribution ofmerge sign.jpg his comment. I am not a career journalist so my perspective may be different but I believe that the most efficient and productive model for blogging (for those of us not on the A-list) is a network that merges independent voices in a topical platform.

Who is Kimberlee Morrison?
Hello, I am Kimberlee Morrison, Editorial Assistant for Know More Media. My job here is to promote network blogs, highlight various posts or authors, research informational resources for new authors, answer the info@knowmoremedia email and a couple other administrative duties.

I graduated from California State University of Long Beach (CSULB) in May 2006 with a BS in Corporate Training and Development and a minor in Journalism. My first published work was a collaborative collection of autobiographical short stories entitled The Freedom
DSC00121.JPG Writer's Diary, published by Doubleday in October 1999. As a student at CSULB, I became a regular contributor to the The Daily 49er, an independent university newspaper, covering a wide range of subjects. I have also been published in a few poetry anthologies and participated in various writing communities online.

Before joining the Know More Media team I was a peer educator for the CSULB Health Resource Center where my job was to research and write about various health topics as they related to students for the Journal of the Health Resource Center and the Health Beat newsletter.

I am excited about the possibilities that abound for Know More Media and am happy to be connected to the future and success of this network. As citizen journalism evolves and bloggers gain credibility as news gatherers, I believe Know More Media will be one of the publishing companies to lay foundation of the future of the medium.

Most of all though, I look forward to learning and benefiting from the wisdom of those who have more experience in the business world, as well as being part of something remarkable.
